The Ulimate Modern Teenger

When certain people hear or think of the word “teenager”, what normally comes to mind? Rebellious, Irresponsible, Sexually immature, Mischievous with a desire for the taste of danger maybe? As a teenage in the twenty first century, I have noticed these stereotypes towards us, and I can assuredly argue that these individuals are being prejudiced in their views towards today’s youth. It is not civil to categorize all teens in a similar manner. The older generation need to recall that they used to be like us at one time; Carefree, wild, fun loving, the list goes on. And what children under the age of thirteen need to consider, is that they will soon be one of us. Struggling to get essays in on time, pressured by society, and struggling to discover what purpose you have in your life. Being a teen is not a completely appalling stage in life. However, there are lessons to be learned and many mistakes to be made. The present day adolescent is not lethargic and unappreciative as depicted; They are constrained by their own surroundings and is negatively influenced, by society into believing that their best is not appeased. Over the years, the life of an average teenager has changed significantly. Compared to the modern day teenager, being a teen back in the twentieth century was distinctly different. For example; The music, clothes style, and school experiences to name a few. It is not only the teen who has changed, but also the world itself. Music back in the 80’s music contained words and meaning. This is also to specify that music was not overly sexualized as it is now. Teen girls and boys would dress more accordingly, and the media influences were a limited consideration and source. From stories that my grandparents and parents have told me, a teen’s life in the past, overall, seems like it used to be simple, yet, enjoyable. The public assumes that teeenagers are simply surrending to these pressures and parents are the main ones at fault. However, teenagers now and their parents have acquired very different experiences throughout their lives. Teenagers now, along with the befinites the internet offers, have to deal with an abundant amount of homework each night. There are more standards set upon being a teenager presently. At times most of us must attempt to balance our social life, family life, school work, extracurricular activities, at times a job, and trying to discover ourselves and future simultaneously. And the most dominating task of all is having to deal with the pressure from social media. Working to measure up to the standards from male and female models, working to measure up to our parents specifications, and working to measure up to our own expectations. All these burdens and constant constraint from others can have a substantial effect on a teens mental and physical well being. It is not being impartial to assume that all tenenagers are just wasting their lives

We do wish to be independent, yet, similar at the same time. We say we will not partake in certain activities but then change our minds. We lie to our parents in hopes of not getting caught. We agree to not repeat the same mistakes twice, but we do anyway. We do all these things because we are learning, learning from our experiences, experiences that will be cherishable memories, and memories that will bring us joy when we are older that we did not waste our youth. We have only a limited amount of time in this world and changes will soon change. We wish to embrace what we possess and make the most of our young lives while it …show more content…
I have changed in many ways since I first started high school. I have learned to not get involved in others problems. I have learned to do my best which will always be enough, I have learned that I do not need to impress anyone else besides myself and most of all I have learned to not let anyone negatively influence me. I try to hold fast to these values as I struggle with daily pressures and issues set by others. We all have our differences which makes us all individually special. I will continue to to use these lessons as part of my life. Being a teenager in general, is a learning stage in life. Teenagers are children who are transitions into becoming adults, which is one of life 's most monumental

The minimum driving age should not be raised from 16 to 18. In my opinion, teens already have a problem getting where they need to go considering their transportation is usually their parents. By the time they come home from work they are too exhausted to drive anywhere else. Starting out early than waiting until one becomes a legal adult to drive gives a teenager an opportunity to exercise responsibility and to have some independence. Just because teens are prone to do reckless, irresponsible things does not necessarily mean they will get into accidents because they are younger.…
