Ellinger Plumbing And Heating Case Study

The person that I decided to interview is David Ellinger, who is my father, in addition to being a plumber for over 40 years and a plumbing business owner of over 29 years. Mr. Ellinger became the owner of his own plumbing company in 1986 and appropriately named his business, D.P. Ellinger Plumbing and Heating. I have always had dreams of owning my own business, which played a key point why I chose this to interview. Another key point on why I chose this individual to interview has to do with the fact that Mr. Ellinger’s business holds a great reputation that has continuously over the past decades, which he dedicates to the simple answer, work hard and stick to what you say you are going to do.

Organizational communication is defined as the process through which organizations are created and in turn create and shape events. The process can be understood as complex interactions of people, messages, meaning, realities, and purpose. (Page 17) When asked about organizational communication, Mr. Ellinger stated

When I asked Mr. Ellinger about what types of networking he uses within his business, he knows throughout his years and experience just how much of a loss or gain networking can do to a business within the plumbing trade. Mr. Ellinger stated that numerous amounts of his friends within the plumbing trade have lost their businesses over the years due to their plumbing company having a horrible reputation. Mr. Ellinger also stated that it’s not that hard to have your business constantly being spread though word of mouth of having such a great reputation. Mr. Ellinger believes in the old fashion phrase of keeping your word. He believes that if you say you are going to do something, do it.
