Alois Alzheimer in 1906. Dr. Alzheimer noticed changes in a woman who had passed away whose brain tissue was damaged by an unusual illness that was not known in the field of medicine yet. The brain fibers in her skull were tangled and clumped, causing obstructions in her mental and physical capabilities. The causes of these unusual circumstances were unknown at the time and still are today. Doctors of this time period believe it could be caused by a protein deposit build up or even possibly a blood protein called apoE, which is used to move cholesterol in the body. It is an extremely hard to understand part of humanity and the human mind because professionals have very little information on it and what causes it. Painstaking and expensive research is being conducted daily with numerous donors worldwide to support the possibility of one day finding something to eliminate it or to slightly delay the tremendous changes it unwillingly causes on the human brain. It is overwhelming confusion and hardships affects millions of people daily and can change a life in a split second. This disease is so frightening because of it’s background, traits, and having no known cure. Mounds of money and countless hours are spent each year by the greatest minds alive in the hopes of finally finding a cure for this horrid disease. With the help of modern technology and the advances in modern medicine they are striving for each day, a cure may be within reach far sooner than
