“The number of Americans with Alzheimer 's disease and other dementias will grow each year as the size and proportion of the U.S. population age 65 and older continues to increase.”(2015 Alzheimer’s disease) There are so many senior citizens in the world that are struggling with Alzheimer’s disease. Some senior citizens are aware of it, but most aren’t. The senior citizens that are aware that they have Alzheimer’s are lost, and confused because they are unaware of what is taking place. Alzheimer’s disease, an illness that can affect the brain of senior citizens, has several stages with mental effects that can disable one for the remainder of their life.

The different stages are “mild (early-stage), moderate (middle-stage), and severe (late-stage)”. (Stages of Alzheimer’s) Each stage has different symptoms. People with Alzheimer’s disease progress differently whether they have a faster or slower pace than someone else. So, some individuals may have symptoms that the next person did not have. This is the final stage of this disease. This stage becomes the most crucial. The individual losses the ability to communicate, respond to the environment or even how to control movement. Some individuals lash out because of this. They do not forget how to completely talk they may say some phrases every here and there .but not much. Although this stage is the last stage and the most severe, the individual’s memory continues to worsen. Personality changes begin to happen. The individual becomes bitter, and deeply depressed. They then require having full time care because they are not alert of past experiences and surroundings. They are near death so they now are having a hard time with physical activities such as walking, sitting, even swallowing. The ability to communicate becomes harder.
