African Kingdoms Research Paper

The trade that occurred throughout the African kingdoms has many similarities and differences to trade that occurs in the twenty-first century in the United States. Commodities still exist today but they are different than the commodities that the African kingdoms used. Also, United States has cities that are the center for trade like the African kingdoms did. Similarly, like the African kingdoms, the modern United States use taxes to gain wealth. The African kingdoms had commodities like gold and salt. Similarly the modern United States has commodities, however they are not the commodities that the African kingdoms had. The African kingdoms had gold and salt, which had high values, and they used them as commodities in the trade routes that ran through the kingdoms. In east Africa, the city of Axum was at the center of trade because it was located along a well known trade route. Adullis was a port city that was on the Red Sea. It could control the imports from other kingdoms and exports to other kingdoms. In the modern day United States there are many cities that are at the center of trade. Many cities along the coast, such as Tampa, have ports. The cities can recent imports from other countries and from other ports in the U.S. They also can export many goods to other countries and other ports in the U.S. Some of the African kingdoms, like Ghana used taxes to gain wealth for the kingdom, likewise, the modern day U.S uses taxes on goods to gain wealth. Ghana in west Africa would tax goods that were traded throughout the kingdom, which brought great wealth to it.
