Advertising has a huge influence on its audience in todays world. Ads can be found on billboards, in stores, on food packaging, on clothing, or any other place. Some ads are very effective and easily persuade its viewer to buy a product or take action. Ads by the Centers for Disease Control effectively promote the influenza vaccine to a range of audiences using several persuasive techniques.
A specific ad from them states "Spread Music. Not Flu." A photograph of two young adults listening to music and smiling together can be seen. From this image, it can be determined that the audience is most likely teens. The ad associates getting the flu vaccination with staying healthy, as mentioned in some of the smaller words on the poster. The viewer may also see the smiling people in the photo and associate the flu vaccinations with something that can bring them happiness. Of course, music is also widely popular among teens, so the link between the vaccines and something that many teenagers are fond of can help them to think that flu vaccinations are something they may like to get as well.

The advertisement seems to empower the parental audience and help them realize they are in control of keeping their house safe from the flu. Personally, I think this campaign nailed it when it comes down to advertising the situation of drunk driving and was very successful. Mothers Against Drunk Driving used a different approach towards the topic than most other advertisements do which I believe is one of the reasons this ad is so effective. It not only tells about the harms of drunk driving, but it physically shows the situation that could change your life around if you are involved in it. The advertisements use of pathos makes it emotional for not only those who actually partake in drunk driving, but even the people who are just using the road. It uses a very logical fact to engage the audience of the time frame it takes to be struck by a drunk driver.…
