The child could go from being on top of the world to hating it any everyone in it. Puberty and the change in hormones causes the sudden shift in moods. A year or two after puberty, the brain tends to stable itself out. The frontal cortex is where these events take place. Besides the regular swings, there are also more emotions that they go through. Those include: being insecure, vulnerable, states of sadness, periods of loneliness, and even confusion. There is even times when the adolescent doesn’t actually know what he or she is experiencing. It was fascinating to learn that the brain in first 18 months of life, produce millions of brain cells quite rapidly. I learned that there was two stages of the development of the brain. The first stage occurs in the first months of life, and the second stage begins about ages ten through thirteen. What I took from it, was to be patient and be there for the child, because those are the years they will need you most. The most you can do is be there for the child and listen to them or just hold them to let them know they are not alone in anything that is occurring in their lives. Simply showing you care can help tremendously. Obviously the child will tell you
