Adolescents and Inexperience cause an Untimely Death
Romeo and Juliet are children when they fall in love, and too young when they decide to take their own life. The story of Romeo and Juliet and their “untimely death” is caused by their inexperience, their eagerness, their curiosity and mainly their youth. Every action they undergo they are just too young to for. It is understandable though, they are teenagers and teenagers are very spontaneous, but their age is not the only thing to blame. Friar Lawrence is responsible for some of Romeo and Juliet’s actions but it is because of their willingness to give him their trust that put him in that position. Their decision to commit to one and other because of their new found love in such a short period of time is also a result of their youth. All of these endeavors Romeo and Juliet go through are all due to their adolescence and especially their death.
Romeo and Juliet’s unplanned proposal to commit to one another is due to their youth. When they fall in love and decide to get married in a period of 24 hours is not a wise decision but yet understandable due to their age, they are developing teens. Throughout the play, Romeo and Juliet make unwise choices only teenagers would make. Such as when Romeo decides to fight Tybalt, he says “Now Tybalt, take the “villain” back again.” (3.1.123) Or when Juliet decides to take the potion, she demands “Give me, give me! O, tell not me of fear!” (4.1.185) Not thinking of the consequences because these “Starred Crossed Lovers” are teenagers who do not think things through. The most extreme decision that Romeo and Juliet will make is when they decide to take their own lives because in their minds that is the only alternative other than living without one
