Did you know that some firefighters are on duty for 24 hours straight, then they get 48 hours off? If that was school, that means that you would get 10 days off after going to school for only a week. I don't know about you, but that's all I need to hear to know that firefighting is a good job. Firefighting must be a great career field because they have a good salary, a lot of respect, and finally they need more recruits.
Being a firefighter is one of the best jobs you can have because first, firefighters are very respected by our country, and second, what's better than saving lives? With all of the fires from such things as ovens being left on, fireplaces not being tended correctly, and leaving the gas stove on, many places do burn down, and people die as a result because there are not enough firefighters to help them in time. For example, the Oakland Warehouse in California burned down and no firefighters were there to save the people. All of the civilians were trapped by the fire, and at least nine people died.
