Deletion
When a portion of chromosome is missing
Inversion
a portion of chromosome is snapped off, turned upside down and reattached
Translocation
-When a portion of one chromosome is transferred to another chromosome
Duplication
A segment has been duplicated, resulting in extra genetic material
Point Mutations
Silent Mutation - Does not Change amino acid
Nonsense Mutation - Codes for a stop codon Missense Mutation - Codes for a different amino acid |
Insertion
the insertion of a larger sequence into a chromosome. This can happen due to unequal crossover during meiosis.
Vegetative Reproduction
Parthenogenesis - Fertilization of the egg without sperm
Vegatative Budding - a process by which new plants arise without production of seeds or spores |
Protostome
Archenteron becomes mouth first
In deuterostomes
Archenteron becomes anus first

Outer layers of skin, nervous system,
Mesoderm
Muscle, Skeletal Systems, Blood Vessels
Ethanol fermentation
Ethanol fermentation (performed by yeast and some types of bacteria) breaks the pyruvate down into ethanol and carbon dioxide.
Lactic Acid Fermentation
the NADH donates its extra electrons to the pyruvate molecules. Since the NADH has lost electrons, NAD+ regenerates and is again available for glycolysis. Lactic acid, for which this process is named, is formed by the reduction of pyruvate.

Mutation
-What causes mutation
Enviornmental factors such as Ionizing Radiation, (Xrays Gamma Rays), the subatomic particles fly out like bullets. Electromagnetic Radiation (UV Rays) -Random Event (cancer) DNA Polymerase catches most mistakes, but not all. |
