May 18th, 2017 The Outsiders is a very fascinating book, however it was also a great movie. The Outsiders was written by S.E. Hinton in 1967, April 24th. As with every amazing book, there comes a movie to watch, and so we now have The Outsiders as a movie. The movie was made on March 25th, 1983. With every book and movie, there are many similarities, however they can also be many differences. With all these similarities and differences, there are many things that we can compare and contrast. Today I’ll be comparing the book to the movie.

First, let’s start with the similarities. To get the obvious out of the way, all the main points go the same way. The book had done a great job creating Ponyboy’s first person point of view. The movie was able to incorporate that style as well into the movie,

In the book, Ponyboy is also descriptively describing the color of everyone’s eyes. This gives us an imagination to work with since

This scene in the book perfectly represented the main idea “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” It showed exactly what the main idea means, Ponyboy looked and realizes that Socs aren’t just tough and rich, they are also people with hearts and feelings. This message will forever stay in the world. It did way back in 1967 with Greasers and Socs and even more now in 2018. This world has come to the point where everyone is just judging people by looks and their culture.…

“Stay golden ponyboy.” That means that Ponyboy should stay good and not do bad things. I thought the book was okay because it wasn’t really detailed like the movie because the movie had more action about the rumble or when dally robs a store and gets shot or even when Johnny dies. The movie was really detailed. While the book and movie have many similarities and differences, the Movie was more effective in telling the story.…

    5) Before Johnny died he told Ponyboy to “stay gold”. This was inspired by the Robert Frost poem, “nothing gold can stay”. The main idea of the poem is that life happens in short-lived moments. Good things don’t stay long enough. Johnny is reminding Pony to cherish every moment because he knows that pony has his whole life in front of him, and shouldn’t take it for granite.…

To start, The Outsiders author, S.E. Hinton, wrote the book in a first person point of view. If Ponyboy had no knowledge of an event, then the reader did not know either.
