All clinical staff are encouraged to receive the Hepatitis-B vaccine. In accordance with OSHA requirements and the Practice, the Hepatitis B vaccine is available to all employees within 10 working days of initial assignment where they may have occupational exposure. Disposal of blood/body fluids/infectious materials will be performed only by designated clinical staff.
Infection Control: Universal Precautions
All employees, regardless of their positions, must adhere to the following universal precautions for infection control at all times in the functioning of the Office:
1. Hands are to be washed before and after patient or patient specimen contact, and immediately if hands become contaminated with blood or other body fluids. If there is contact with excretions or secretions, hands must be washed before touching the patient. Hand washing upon removal of gloves is also required.

Control of Employee Infectious Disease
The Practice is committed to providing a safe, healthy work and clinical environment. Employees who suffer from infectious diseases and related conditions, including AIDS and its associated diseases, may present serious health risks for coworkers and patients.
Clinical employees whose primary duty is direct patient care and who are directly involved in invasive procedures must advise the Supervisor/Practice Manager if they suffer from any one of the eight infectious diseases listed below. (All other employees are encouraged to do so in the interest of their own, coworker, and patient health and safety.) This information will be kept confidential, like any other employee medical records, and will be shared only with the Practice 's Infection Control Committee.
