Human trafficking is one of the three leading criminal industries that take benefit of victims through slavery, organ trade, sexual exploitation and forced labour. It now being the fastest growing business of planned crime. Commonly a victim is illegally transported within their own country or to another country so that the people behind this crime are benefited financially. This mainly involves women and children but can even involve men.

Criminals notice that by selling humans it is safer and more advantageous than selling drugs or such. An extract from the author Julien Sher’s book ‘Somebody’s daughter’ where she quotes an FBI agent. The FBI agent says, ‘’The sex trade is the new drug trade’’. When selling people, it shows a slight threat but when selling drugs, it involves the criminal a lot of compromising by trying to not be caught or misplacing their product. Nevertheless, with human lives, it doesn’t need losing their ‘purchase’ because these victims believe that they are going someplace with a positive future: in some situations they end up in an abusive situation it becomes dangerous for these victims to escape.
Social work has become one of the methods of trying to stop human trafficking. It achieves a variety of ways in addressing issues of human trafficking by striving to let people know the resources needed in order for people to follow the basic needs of humans. The victims tend to get health issues: such as HIV/AIDS, physical trauma, exhaustion and etc. With the social work, the service can provide medical help to give back a lifestyle that the victim once had and
