Sex; it’s always been a hot topic. It’s always been the case that humans, in their base nature, are instinctive creatures and often act on animalistic desires, especially those of a sexual nature. As one so often hears, in the media and in the world around us; “sex sells”. The phrase itself came about through the corroboration of sexual acts, both paid or unpaid, private or public. In the world of today, sex is everywhere in the media, yet paid sex, or prostitution, is so often looked down upon. Despite prostitution having been around for many, many years, often being hailed as the earliest profession, there are disputes to this day about women selling their bodies for sex. It is for this reason that legalizing prostitution could provide many countries with an economic advantage, for it would decrease the unemployment rate in those countries. Due to recent job markets being extremely limited in terms of job opportunities, many individuals are being let off work, and are unable to find jobs because there is a decrease in available vacancies. Therefore, considering prostitution as a career choice is something many have being doing for quite some time now, and for good reason, for prostitution is quite the lucrative business. Hence, if prostitution were legitimized, the stigma of being a sex worker would slowly decrease, and eventually, people would feel more comfortable pursuing this line of work, and this in itself would lead to an increase in employment. Similarly, when discussing the stigma that those in prostitution face, it is important to mention that if the stigma faced by prostitutes is lifted, it might facilitate the transition of those in prostitution to other lines of work, which would lead to an expansion in the non-sex work labor
