A parable is a simple story used to illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson. There are many different parables out there in the world, each written by various authors and writers. In “The Pearl”, there is a parable. The beginning of the book is really where the parable is set. The story starts with a really positive vibe. Kino, the main character, has nothing to worry about in life. He has a family, shelter, clothing, and job. All of his happiness quickly fades when his baby, Coyotito, gets stung by a scorpion. After Kino and Juana find the pearl, they are thinking of everything they could buy with it, as well as how they would give the money to the doctor to have him help Coyotito.
