My favorite thing about high school is homecoming week they give you different themes every year and you can dress all different ways depending on the theme. The river rat race is when you sit on this cart thing and use a stick to push you around and who ever makes it around first wins. I love watching all my classmates play the games it’s

Sonsyrea Tate once said, “You can leave home all you want, but home will never leave you.” This statement gives light to a higher meaning of the word “home” than merely a place to live. Many people look at home as a place or a dwelling, but not many people see home as a state of mind; however, home is a state of mind. The Architizer defines home as a complex, interpretational, and unique way of organizing and understanding the space within ourselves and the way the world around us is constructed (Linda Bennett, "Architizer"). With this definition, one can assume that “home” includes heavy influences on feelings, thought, and actions.…

Glory, often called “one of the most powerful and historically [films] accurate ever made about [the] war,” (McPherson, Glory) is a film from that tells the story of the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment, the first African American regiment who volunteered to fight for the Union Army. Many of the scenes of the war help portray what the members went through. However, three scenes best depict the experience of the war for the regiment: when Colonel Shaw reads the proclamation from the Confederate Congress, when Corporal. Thomas Searls is shot in a small fight, and when Col. Shaw volunteers to Fort Sumter. These three scenes best portray Glory’s theme of the willingness the regiment had to fight and compassion they possessed for their cause.…

My most positive high school experience for me has to be when I was inducted into National Honor Society for my senior year. This was something that I has been striving to do since my freshman year after I received my first academic letter. But after our school decided to only allow seniors to be inducted, raised the GPA requirement, and reduced the amount of people that would be allowed to be inducted I wasn’t sure if my goal would still be attainable. But after three years of strenuous classes, constant volunteer service, and keeping my grades up I finally received an acceptance letter and was inducted into NHS where I am able to surround myself with others that have the same academic goals as…
