This is significant because the bow is her weapon of choice. It is how she survived in district 12 and in the last hunger games and it is going to help her survive in this hunger games. Every time she has killed a person or animal it has been with the bow.
A symbolic item in Catching Fire would be the wedding dress that Katniss wears at the interview with Caesar before the seventy-fifth hunger games. This is a tremendous symbol because it represents that Peeta and Katniss plan to get married before they knew about the second hunger games they are going to be in. This shows how meaningful this dress really is in the book because of how she planned to get married to Peeta but now she will not be able to because the capitol makes her be in the next hunger games. Katniss telling this to the audience, it practically starts a riot.
