Everyday, people come up to me and ask my story. Everyday, I tell them the same thing. “I am an old man,” I say, “I have no story that will interest you.” In the years since the event, not once have I uttered words about the shoes. Not once have I thought about the misery I had to go through. Not once have I looked through any pictures of them. Not once. But here, now, today, that will all change. Today, I shall tell you my story. My story begins in the blistering hot sun of Peru. I had come from a small, almost unknown town in the state of New Mexico. Work kept me away from my home, but whenever I had some leisure time, I had tried to abscond there. See, I was a traveller, an explorer, an adventurer. I went to different places and discovered different artifacts. At twenty five years old, I had already become well known. People had known me as the “Platinum Thief”, a reference to my discovery of the “Glass of Platinum”, which was a mysterious artifact that caused the discoverer to get dreams concerning the future. Now, I had come to Peru to help one of my closest friends pull off a job that his very existence depended on. Once my plane had landed, I had set off to find the baggage pickup area. After I had taken my belongings, I had found my close friend waiting for me in the passenger arrival area. “Impressive,” I had said,“You’re here. It’s not someone like a servant this time.” “Yep. It’s me in the flesh, old friend,” he had said, laughing, in his thick Spanish accent.…

Whitman saw a “grand tragedy that promised ultimate purgation and unification for America” in the death of Lincoln (Reynolds). Because of this view on President Lincoln,…

Having always had a fascination with the mentally ill Dorothea took a teaching position at the East Cambridge Women’s prison where she was shocked to see the…

The comment that draws the most partisan response is when the President states, “how we secured the freedom in every state to marry the person we love.” Republicans are conservative and thus, most refused to cheer for this, unlike the Democrats. How is the President’s presentation? President Obama seems to be cool and collected throughout the whole address. He does not seem to be nervous or scared about what he is addressing, as shown by his body language. His body language emphasizes the…
