In accordance to statistics Canada, it is revealed that an average of 40 hours is spent as a work week of a self employed and 35 hours average workweek for employees (Cbc news, October 2011). Nevertheless, the self employed do enjoy the benefit of having break periods at times that suit them best and have total control over their business, meanwhile the employees are given a specific time for breaks and so not have any control over the business except their work. Regardless of that, the self employed benefit less in areas of their working hours than employees, spending less time with their family, stress, loneliness, and is more complicated because they have to look at the investment, availability of land, the employment…

During the course of the two weeks the one behavior that I selected to change was to reduce my spending behavior. My first thoughts on trying to modify this behavior was that this was going to be a stress-free assignment that I was going to be able to accomplish with no problems. Going into the assignment and believing that I was going to only need to put little to no effort into it lead me to becoming quite surprised when I discovered that it was not as easy as I made it out to be. However,…

The second person I interviewed was my friend Cody. When he was in high school he worked in a summer camp for boy scouts. The pay for this job wasn’t very good but it was well worth the experience. When Cody turned 18 he wanted to find a good job that paid well so he became a roofer. It was under the table so the pay was very good. He worked with older people, but they enjoyed working with him because he worked very hard. He most recently worked at a gas station second shift on the weekends to…

decades. Many employees are having to work longer hours to sustain a comfortable life and to be able to move up to higher positions. According to the Duke Journal of Gender Law & Policy, “our social norms outside of the workplace fail to evolve with the changing nature of the labor force. “This is causing parents but mainly mothers to have to spend less time with their children, find other means of caretaking for their children, and struggle to provide the necessities for them. Bagel Hockey Case Analysis The bagel hockey case outlined a scenario that combined a cohesive group of young adults, too much free time, and too little management. The cafeteria manager, Mrs. Larby, made an unannounced weekend visit to the cafeteria and found her employees violating one of the business rules of no horseplay. When she walked in on a busy cafeteria, only a couple of employees were functioning in their roles while the rest were playing floor hockey with brooms and stale bagels in…

Once Henry Ford made the automobile affordable, the lives of every citizen changed. He impacted the United States (and the world) both economically and socially. He did this by creating the assembly line. This assembly line enabled the mass production of the automobile and ultimately a discounted price. Socially, among other things, he improved the quality of life greatly. People were able to take vacations to places that they would have never have been able to go, even if just for a day trip on…

My media-free experiment ran from Saturday 11/5 through Tuesday 11/8. My typical day is not as social media oriented as many other people, so I thought this exercise might be a bit easier for me than the typical student. I don’t have Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, or any of the other various social media accounts. I do text quite a bit to keep in touch with my wife, kids, and friends since I am on a rotating night schedule now, which severely limits the amount of quality, face-to-face time I have…
