Manhua Journey to the West, a graphic novel by Zhang Guangyu in 1945, is a nod to the Chinese classic Journey to the Wets by Wu Cheng'en written in the year 1592. It is written around the reign of the KMT and during the second Sino-Japanese War. From which Zhang uses the style in which Journey to the West was written to "implicate" poke fun of the government and their policies. How does Zhang Guang use the classic Journey to the west to explain the events around 1945 circa China? Why does he use such a frame? To create a adaptation of the classic to relate the events of then China. By using a classic such as the Journey to the West (which was an original satire in its own right),in order to critique the government of the time (KMT) without too much trouble. I think he used the elements that JTHW holds for better adjustment to 1945 China. That was the why aspect, now let's explore how. The beauty of a mythical land and/or story is that all things you say or things you show are not completely true, or not entirely true. Zhang can depict mystical lands that happen to resemble lands and people we are familiar with, but not explicitly. Such as the False Qin, a kingdom that has complications with the land of Ey-in, who are ruled by "Japanese demons" and look to fight with the Ey-in kingdom. For the first example, (when the travelers came across a tree made of paper money, they learn that within the Kingdom of Paper Money it is the custom to convert gold and…

relatable to The Other Wes Moore by Wes Moore. Both Wes Moore’s lives significantly took different turns, there outside expectations were for them to fail and to make responsibilities their priorities. Responsibilities play an important role in how their lives turn out since Wes stuck to military school and the other Wes had kids not…
Social media, filers, websites, business cards, and word of mouth will be all promotions. The comparison how my institute would work would be a prior school I attended St Johns Military Academy. But I will leave the military part out due to my experience. I believe at times military forget that they are training people not machines. I would like for our youth to think rationally. St Johns had all sports that you can think of and also had things for non interested athletic students. We also…

family and I thought it through exhaustively, or so I thought. I visited several different campuses in a few different states. I had studied the extent of many different majors, I considered many backup options, and I questioned what I thought I would enjoy, love or hate. In May of 2013 I felt like I knew all the answers – that being Massachusetts Maritime Academy. I would enjoy life at sea, I could make a matchless salary, and all while visiting different ports around the world. I got the…
The Bucksbaum Early Entrance Academy is a program that accelerates high school students past their junior or senior year directly to college. What this really means is that the members of this culture are a bunch of children who really wanted to get out of high school. We all were a part of the gifted programs in our schools, and we all decided we were too smart for that. Apparently the University agreed, so we can all be considered at least academically ready for college. At some level, we…

This was the seventh week out of twelve in my internship. This was another great week that was insightful and helpful to furthering my knowledge of the criminal justice system. I was sick on Monday which is why there is no event for that day. The log ends on the following Monday because I wanted to keep the string of five-day work weeks present in my reports. I am only mentioning this to make sure that there is no confusion in that part of the report. This week, was the week of the citizen’s…
