After describing Parker’s life, career, and musical style, he continued to explain Parker’s songs include “KoKo,” “Lady Be Good,” “Embraceable You,” “Klact-oveeseds-tene,” and “Parker’s Mood.” Patrick also analyzed the form of “Constellation,” “Scrapple From the Apple,” “Ah-Leu-Cha” and “KoKo.” Though most of the analyses were only part of the songs, but Patrick had shown his knowledge as a producer and educator. He wanted the readers to understand what is going on with the songs but I feel this is too hard for the readers who had no experiences of jazz or music background. Patrick had supported his statements and explained well of Parker’s life and his career. It was rare to read quotes from Parker, Rebecca Ruffin (his wife,) and the medical documents in this book. Patrick might talk about Parker’s personal life too much, but he grabbed my attention by quoting and analyzing.…
