    In late 19th century Australia, the school of Australian Impressionists in the Heidelberg area formed an artist’s group that focused on painting scenes of Australia, refered as The Heidelberg School. The Impressionists were fascinated with this notion of en plein air that is the French word for “open air”. This was a technique discovered by Australian artists Frederick McCubbin and Tom Roberts.
