inventory, the SAC, and a modified balance test based on the BESS. The sign is considered as self-evaluation portion of the SCAT2. SAC is testing the cognitive screen designed to determine an athlete’s current orientation, immediate memory, concentration, and delayed recall. The number of errors or deviations from the assigned stance are counted and subtracted from a total possible score of 30. The presence of post-trauma physical signs and changes has contributed to a total score. The Sensory Organization Test is used for the six sensory conditions to objectively identify abnormalities in the athlete use of somatosensory, visual, and vestibular systems to maintain postural control. The test is useful for the visual and proprioceptive information which assess the athlete vestibular balance control and adaptive responses of their central nervous system. The tools of measurement are useful to the study due to previous studies in concussions. The SCAT-2 and three are used in college athletics. However, athletic trainers use a combination of SCAT and Impact test. For example, the two criteria are parallel forms reliability due to the reliability obtained by administering different versions of an assessment tool. The SCAT-2 and three are updated versions must contain items that probe the same construct, skill tested of physical activities, balance, cognitive, and motor. The scores of the two versions are correlated due to the evaluation of the consistency of results…

This study found that upon conflicts between the vestibular and proprioceptive inputs, the spatial updating was a weighted average of the two inputs.10 This means that both the vestibular system and the proprioceptive system both contribute in part to the body’s understanding of position such as during standing balance. Since vestibular input should be correct while the patient is standing upright, there is interest in understanding why proprioceptive input is incorrect and how to correct…

continuous process that takes place unconsciously in the body for the most part. This procedure requires the input of information from the vestibular, visual and proprioceptive systems. Motor output is relayed through two separate pathways in response to the integration of the information. Thus, making it clear that a multitude of different systems comes together to maintain balance at any given point in time. The vestibular system plays a key role in maintaining a sense of balance in the body.…

A cat’s vestibular system is crucial because it makes the cat aware that he is turning left or right, walking, running, or facing upside down. On the other hand, a cat develops a condition called vestibular disease when the animal is unable to do body coordination, mainly due to several disorders affecting the vestibular apparatus in the inner ear or brainstem. Most of us would have staggered, lost balance, or tilting to one side for a few seconds when you spun around fast, such as when riding…

In conclusion this investigation did prove its hypothesis that If 0-20 year olds, 20-40 years old, 40-60 years old and 60+ year old are all tested then the youngest age group of 0-20s year old will have the higher timed results than the eldest age group 60+ year olds because age affects balance related senses such as vestibular system. The vestibular cells die with age and the cerebellum cells can also be affected by age and drugs for arthritic pain. The results showed that the highest average…

The human body, but more specifically visual cues and the vestibular system allow us to determine when we are upright, sideways or turning. However, when visual references disappear the mind will tend to make up a false sense of which way is straight and level by relying mainly on the vestibular system. These false orientations created by an illusion have been deadly for many pilots, especially for those without any instrument training. Although having an instrument rating is not always the…
