Bowling for Clues For my detective assignment I elected to research object D-12, a small ceramic bowl with multiple cracks. I estimate the diameter of the bowl to be about 18 to 20cm and the width about 35cm with a height of 8cm. It is beautiful piece portraying a polo player surrounded by flower and sun motifs. The polo player appears to be female and is dressed in a gorgeous and complex gown. The vegetal themes are complimented by the use of the neutral shades brown and tan and a luster…
Puvungna On September 19, 2015 I joined the class on the trip to Puvungna, which is also known as the “Gathering Place” for Native Americans. I have known that Puvungna was located on campus but I have never gone to look around. The site is located right along Earl Warren Drive on campus and behind the Japanese Garden which was populated by the Tongva tribe. In 1974 Puvungna was listed in the National Register of Historic Places. This museum is very different to a museum that we all know of.…
California State University Northridge is a conglomerate of different cultures, ethnicities, and religions. The students and faculty are a good sample size of the American religious landscape: numerous ethnicities from different locations around the world come together and bring their religious practices with them. This nation holds great pride in its diversity and acceptance of others. This concept of pluralism is something the nation would prefer to have as a common belief, however there are…
As the years past by, each decade progressively improves upon itself. Learning from their mistakes, growing, developing laws, literature, technology, and even building structures to accommodate the people of that era. Even though these advancements do benefits us greatly, it can also affect our behavior and how we perceive things in everyday interactions. I ponder the question—is the past really all that different from the present, is it still possible to affect and modify behaviors? I compared…
Becoming Who I am Supposed to Be As a student at Sonoma State University, I decided to declare my major in human development because it covers a broad range of subjects like psychology, anthropology, and sociology. Then, at the end of my junior year in college, I decided to declare a minor in early childhood studies. To complete the early childhood studies minor, I have taken classes that teach concepts such as child development and how to assess the different behavioral patterns and the stages…

From visiting the school, I see how this campus can be any student's dream school and this is why I cannot squander the opportunity to write this candid letter. I have to give this one more shot. To be honest, when I began freshman year at Barry University I had no idea what I wanted to study. I was far away from home, in Miami, to begin my college life. Granted,…
time was going to fly by. Next thing you know I began to receive acceptance letters as well as rejection letters from colleges I had applied to. Out of nine colleges I applied to I was debating between four: UC Riverside, Fresno State, San Francisco State University and West Hills Community College. Thinking about where I wanted to go was very overwhelming and stressful. I was only seventeen going on eighteen and I had to start thinking about what I wanted to do with my life, it felts as if I…
moment I fell for it, so of course freaking out was my first instinct. Now that I've been in Salinas for three years going to four I'm getting used to living here. This community motivates me so much, more motivation than the one given in San Jose. While we lived in San Jose my brother and I had no idea of where we wanted to go to college or if we even wanted to go to college. Living in Salinas has made me realize that college is really important and that attending college and coming back to…
Since my freshman year of high school, my passion for agriculture has flourished. I did not come from an agricultural background as my parents worked for the State and Amtrak, but I was intrigued about California’s leading industry. Up until my freshman year in high school, the closest I had gotten to agriculture was when I would grow a garden of vegetables during the spring for fresh produce. I became involved in my school’s FFA chapter and was infatuated with the FFA from the start. I saw it…
