    Both smartphones came with hardware called System on Chips or SoCs, which were used to integrate ARM-based CPUs, GPUs, cache memory, and other various processing functionalities onto one chip. The new Apple “Ax” series was the name of the family of SoCs for iPhones (“Apple iPhone 4”, n.d.). The iPhone 4 contained an Apple A4 chip which was a package on package (PoP) SoC. The CPU was a single-core ARM Cortex-A8 with a clock speed of 800MHz. The ARM Cortex-A8 was paired with a PowerVR SGX535 GPU.
