    officially named Operation Anaconda got started. Intelligence numbers of the enemy changed and caused some planning issues. The enemy forces in the Shahi Kot valley could have been larger but exaggerated, which caused commanders and staffs to be skeptical of the reports. (Fleri, 2003) Some very heavy fighting took place in the absence of one carrier until a second carrier USS BonHomme Richard arrived to support the fight. General Zia was in charge of his forces who accompanied by the SOF teams who attacked enemy forces in the valley from the north and south to drive them into blocking positions to keep them from escaping into Pakistan. (Fleri, 2003) The operation was successful; however, there was major confusion in the beginning over the command structure. Finally, during the execution phase of the plan called for an increase in supplies especially aviation fuel. Storage space was an issue from the beginning, which caused limited fuel and other supplies stockpiled. (Fleri, 2003) With all the changes during the mission, AMD only had five days to get all the supplies in place before D-Day. D-Day postponed from 28 February to 2 March 2002 it caused problems because some units did not know the exact date and time of D-Day which could have resulted in lost lives. A thermobaric bomb came close to the friendly SR team and they did not know about the strikes coming in.
