“Still Life With Iris” I saw the play “Still Life With Iris” in Turpin High School’s auditorium. I was in crew but watched the full run through of the show, and witnessed most of the show closing night, Saturday, February 4th. The show was originally written by Steven Dietz, and Turpin’s play was directed by Lauren Keen. They play was about a girl named Iris who lived on an island called Nocturno where they made everything. She had her past coat stolen and was taken to the Great Goods island. Here she met many other character and together they got all of their coats back from the great goods and returned to Nocturno, where Iris finally got to meet her long lost dad. The shows acting was spot on. The whole cast was extremely good…
that ‘J’ in the closer tore? Was it the sticks we dropped in the drum feature? Was the opener slow? He started talking, “That was one of our better shows.” What the heck does that mean? We never get that short of a talk! I try to be patient as Lucas continues, “I have something to tell you guys.. Next week will be my last at Turpin.” The girls’ jaws drop, literally. He was THE drumline instructor, for all we know he taught the dinosaurs how to play snare drum, and now he’s gonna be gone. Nobody…
I heard that there are different formats of essays so I expect to learn all of them and use it accordingly. Similarly, I assume that presentations are common in any subjects. I anticipate in learning the different ways to effectively deliver messages to the audience. Another style of writing I would likely use is team collaboration. I personally expect a lot of fun with team assignments because there were not much of them during my high school years. I would enjoy sharing ideas and arguing…
college I would attend and would I be able to succeed. I imagined how collage would be, would I attended a large university or a small local community college. Students may even worry about the ACT and SAT and how successful will they be when taking those two extremely important tests. Luckily, I choose a school that didn 't stress me out about those test scores. I choose Lakeland Community College. It was the fall of two-thousand and fifth-teen my senior year in high school! With so many…
same story told in the past, and I share his position. Though I concede that it is difficult to transition to new procedures, I still maintain that it is necessary for public education to change paradigms in accordance to the changing generation. For example, a student may lose all motivation to go to school once he learns that a college degree does not always mean a job. Although he already dislikes spending countless hours at school, he may be turned away completely if he is told he needs a…
Being a freshman in high school is extremely hard , especially when all your friends went to a different high school. Here I am at Rocky River High eating lunch alone, shy to talk to anyone, and just being “a loner “ people would describe me. Meanwhile at Butler High all my friends are happy reunite with one another , have class and lunch together. The feeling of being alone sucked. A couple weeks into school they had volleyball tryouts. I decided to go since I knew how to play. Tryouts lasted…
God doesn’t only have to be a serious but can also be fun and with friends. Some fun ways include going to club and paying games then listening to a leader speak or going camp and listening to talks by the guest speaker. At both of these you are able to have fun and be serious while trying to expand you faith. Another purpose of Young Life is to show that you have people that want to support you and show you that you aren’t alone in your journey. They want to show you how to get through the hard…
It 's your big day!” yelled my Mom. A moan came dribbling out of my mouth as if going to school was the same as being put in a death camp. I got ready, but very slowly. I had to be in class at 8:00 or I would be late. Mom said we needed to leave the house by 7:40. Misty was very excited about going to school which she loved. I on the other hand had no business being at school. I still tried hard, hard enough to make A’s at least. “Out the door” Mom yelled. I could hear the garage door raise.…
When I picture my future, the most prominent aspect of it is my happiness. The most probable source of my happiness would have to be finally believing I’ve done something great, something generating that gratifying feeling of “I made it”. I’m very fortunate to be able to say that throughout just about all of my school career, I’ve always known I wanted to work in a business-related profession and achieve success. Knowing that I want to pursue a prosperous career in this field, I have involved…
to cut down on grade inflation in schools. Originally coined in the 1960’s, grade inflation is defined by the ACT organization as “an increase…
