They came, they actually came! I was so happy that I could have run up and kissed them, but that wouldn’t be appropriate. And to think, I had doubts about them coming at all. I woke up like any other day: lonely. I missed Conchetta so much, I wisheed she were there for that special day. But then again, Miss Truman and Mr. Wandermeyer did say that they were very busy. What if they didn’t come to the zoo at all? They were charity workers, they probably had a lot of stops to make still. But, I…

    Martin's Cove Trek Report

This July I had the privilege to walk in the footsteps of the Mormon pioneers in Martin’s Cove. Although the Trek was somewhat difficult, I had many great spiritual experiences. While pulling and pushing a handcart for 7 miles a day was difficult, surprisingly, the hardest part of the Trek for me was enduring the 12 hour long car ride back, because I had to ride in the deacon’s car with them singing along to Taylor Swift, and singing the pillow pet commercial theme song. The experiences that I…

This last summer I had the privilege to reenact an important part of history - the pioneer journey west. Although the trek was somewhat difficult I had many great experiences. While pulling and pushing a handcart for 7 miles a day was difficult, surprisingly, the hardest part of trek for me was enduring the 12 hour long car rid back, because I had to ride in the deacon’s (12 year old young men’s) car, with them singing along to Taylor Swift. From my experiences I had, I learned that the things…

Although travel has become so commonplace nowadays, travel out of leisure has always meant an unattainable luxury to me. For many reasons including finances it was not as accessible to me as it may be for others. Since I was a child I have been travelling out of necessity rather than for a vacation. At the age of six I left my home country along with my family and entered Europe as a refugee. We sought asylum in Italy and France until we finally settled in Germany. Although Germany provided a…

Approach-Approach Conflict: My family and I were discussing our annual family vacation for this summer. Our two choices were New York or California, two places I desperately wanted to go to, but could only choose one. This is an approach-approach conflict where I am deciding between two desirable goals. The reason why I wanted to visit New York is because of the culture and the number of amazing sights. Then there’s California, yes, sunny side Cali where your dreams may come true and I am not…

It was a cold day in Arizona and I just got off the plane with my little brother and my parents. I was looking at the scenery while I was in the car on the way to my uncle’s house; we were looking for a house to move into. It was the very first time I have ever moved and also been out of my home state Florida. I was very curious and I was also very afraid what we will do . When we got to my uncle’s house, we were treated like royalty. It was great seeing my uncle and my aunt. I met my cousin…

I was traveling with Catherine, Jingbo, Coco, and Coco’s mom—people I had only met the week before; Dongzhou, Randing, and Luosang were our guides. Initially, our sole intention was to spread environmental awareness to the Yushu area. However, during our tree-hugging mission, we were also able to observe the local culture and lifestyle, and somewhere along the line, the strangers I explored Yushu with became my friends. The vehicle encountered every bump in the road as we drove into the…

This week at city experience has been packed full with lots of amazing visits to places all around Melbourne. The work load has also been very full on, but it has come together and now looks much better than I expected it to. I don’t think that I really have a favourite place as I enjoyed most of the outings we went on. I also liked the interview as I found out things that I didn't know before. I think that the main message from the interview that I got was that to help people without a home,…

It all started on the 14th of August 2017. My teacher made my peers and me write an essay. The topic was where you would want to travel. I said to myself I want to go to Texas. The essay we had to do inspired me to go to Texas. I then decided I would like to hire a guy to tour me and my friends around. We are go to go to cool places like Dallas and Houston and we would even get to go to Arlington. I would like to travel to Texas and while I am there, I would visit the cities of Dallas, Houston…

Reflective Essay This past summer -- 2016 – was beautiful, amazing, fantastic, and I completely loved every second of it. I say this because I did a lot of things in this long vacation like, buy shoes and wallets. Speaking of shoes, I wore yellow Adidas originals when I rode the airplane to do a parachuting activity. Meaning I jumped off a plane, which was really scary. We didn’t even plan to go parachuting, it just happened so suddenly. I hadn’t wanted to go, but I am glad that I did it…
