Swag is a term heard far too often. I hear “Swag” on a daily basis, and that is because it is simply everywhere: in music, in day-to-day life, and even in sports. Rappers, athletes, and regular people alike use swag as a way of credibility. I, on the other hand, think the expression swag needs to come to an immediate end, and the reason for that is that there is an actual word that has the exact same connotation. That word is swagger. Swagger, unlike swag, could actually be found in the dictionary. While we all know that swag is a slang term used to shorten the word swagger, it really is not that hard to just say swagger. It would be such an enormous improvement if people substituted swagger for swag in conversation. So how does one define “swagger”? Swagger is a mix of arrogance and of confidence, arrogance being the bigger of the two ingredients. When I say confidence I mean that one is self-assured, and when I say arrogance, I mean that one believes they are superior to others. The way one carries themselves is how you can determine if someone possesses swagger. Swagger is visible in one’s mannerisms. For example, if someone is puffing their chest out and their walk alone seems like a form of bragging, you can tell that that person has swagger. Having swagger can be extremely important in today’s society. Swagger can help people in many aspects of their life such as sports, careers, and their personal interactions. The abundance of swagger one has almost directly…
