    Personal Hygiene During Puberty You all know that during puberty your hormones are going crazy and you start to experience changes. Well, you have all probably already noticed some physical changes such as body oder, pimples and bad breath. Sometimes these can be hard to control but don't worry, this chapter explains everything you need to know. So lets start with finding out what all of these changes are: Body Odour Sweat is the bodies way of cooling down. If we didn't sweat we would be at a very high risk of overheating. But believe it or not, sweat by itself does not have much of an odour. Most of the smell is caused by bacteria which live on your skin and in your clothing. These bacteria use the sweat for growing. Pimples The exact cause of acne is not known, but hormones called androgens can play a role.. Androgens increase in both boys and girls during puberty. They make the skin's oil glands get larger and make more sebum. This results in pimples. Bad breath Bad breath, also called halitosis, is a common problem not only for teens, but also for everyone. In most cases, bad breath comes from the gums and tongue. Sometimes bacteria in your mouth may produce compounds that result in an oder. Some foods not only leave lasting odour in you mouth but they also absorb into your blood stream It is important to remember to be as clean as possible during this time of change.
