    Buddy Flicks Dynamic duos have been recognized and celebrated in Hollywood for decades. From Sherlock Holmes and Watson to the Blues Brothers, the concept of male camaraderie sparks an interests in audiences and initiates a creative platform for filmmakers. They have used this concept to illustrate their ideas, criticisms and perspective of the human condition and encompass it with in adventures and clever dialogue. As with most films, there’s an underlying message behind the two buddies however; a realization that becomes inevitable throughout the course of the film. These characters evolve together and present knowledge to the audience through the human experience. In Toy story (1995) , A Better Tomorrow (1986) and Midnight Cowboy (1969) the characters relationship drive the plot of the film and bring attention to the filmmaker’s cinematic intentions as well as, the character’s internal conflict. Toy Story is known for it’s innovative filmmaking techniques and it’s ground breaking animation. However, it’s brilliant character development is often overlooked. Throughout the course of the film, the audience witnesses a change within the two leads, Woody and Buzz. The movie starts out with a sequence featuring Andy (the toy’s owner) enjoying his toys and playing with Woody who is obviously is favorite. This is demonstrated by a center close up of Woody’s face.
