    Girl In A Band Essay

when she writes, “Culturally, we don’t allow women to be as free as they would like, because that is frightening” (127). With a broad statement like this, it shows an enthusiasm and curiosity to surpass social norms. The author’s terse choice of words really appeals to me. I relate to Kim Gordon in various ways because we’re both visionaries; we’re also wallflowers in a sense. We’re never really satisfied with the outcomes and always strive for a new approach at situations. We become territorial over our experimental ideas because we claim it as our intellectual property. A good strategy that Gordon implements is that she introduces many tangents about her life. Following her divorce after being married to fellow Sonic Youth member, Thurston Moore, the author becomes interpretive. She sincerely writes, “The couple everyone believed was golden and normal and eternally intact, who gave younger musicians hope they could outlast a crazy rock-and-roll world, was now just another cliche of middle-aged relationship failure—a male midlife crisis, another woman, a double life” (3). Gordon is exposing the reality of fairytale couples in the face of the celebrity world. Being married to your band-mate for 27 years, raising a child for 17 years, and creating a band that has 3 decades worth of discography takes a huge toll on someone. The author makes a world connection on how the medial eye is misjudged and automatically assumed. Gordon also expresses her love of other music,…

However, other scenes within the movie seemed over the top and lacked real evidence. I researched and I will analyze the documentary by providing facts found on the internet at my presentation.…

James Bond films are, and always have been, more similar than innovative. Even in the 1960s they were portrayed as superheroes who wore street clothes instead of colorful tights and mantles He ran, jumped from building to building, drove over broken bridges, jumped from a helicopter and fell in the garbage truck without even getting a scratch on to his body, popular in action cinema at that moment and amped them up with more beautiful locations, bigger explosions, with loud and thundering music.…
