Caesar Rodney is on the back the Delaware quarter in the middle of his famous ride, yet not very many people know anything about him. This shows that he was very passionate about something, which could have been anywhere from the Delaware militia to early politics. Therefore, Caesar Rodney was a marvelous leader because he had great political ideas, military positions, and was extremely passionate for his causes. First off, Caesar Rodney did amazing things in politics, so he was able to become a great political leader. Illustrating a point, “Rodney was elected to the 1783-84 session of the Delaware Legislative Council, and in respect for his leadership, the Council elected him Speaker,” (Caesar Rodney Institute). Rodney had showed “the Council” in past offices that he was a good leader. This trait of being a good leader helped inspire them choose to elect Caesar Rodney as Speaker. This also shows that others viewed him as an astounding leader especially in politics and that those other leaders viewed him with respect. In addition to the previous piece of information, “Caesar Rodney is remembered as a committed public servant and revolutionary leader,” (“Caesar Rodney Institute”). This quote shows that Rodney was very successful as a leader and in politics. A few people remember him best for these qualities. This quote also shows that Rodney was always willing to serve in whatever position that the public needed at any given time. He also did this for the early politics he…

The content of literature comes in many forms. Various individuals believe that literature must portray reality in order to have an impact, however, others disagree. For instance, as once stated by English writer E.M. Forster, "A work of literature must provide more than factual accuracy or vivid physical reality... it must tell us more than we already know." The theory behind this quote is that works of literature do not necessarily have to completely exhibit only realistic and truthful subject…

Coraline by Neil Gaiman is about a young girl named Coraline Jones discovering a door to her other life, other parents, and other struggles.I believe this book was excellent because the author Neil Gaiman, really went into detail about Coraline as a character. He wrote about her surroundings and the new things she discovers behind the door often describing every step she takes.Coraline Jones does not narrate the story but oddly enough, her thoughts and feelings are the only one’s shared…

For my film review, I deiced to do one of my all-time favorite movies by Henry Selick titled Coraline. Let me start by saying while Coraline is a beautifully created family film it is not for all children like it was advertised. Coraline is much more of a whimsical horror that not every child would be able to handle. Coraline is about a twelve-year-old girl named Coraline. She moves with her family from Michigan all the way to Oregon to an old house called the pink palace. There she feels bored…

In this scene the lighting in the house is dim to show the audience the time and how everybody but Coraline, and the mouse she is chasing, are asleep and possibly how mundane (hence the washed out colours throughout the setting) this new house is to her. The lighting in the entrance to the ‘other world’ is brighter and there are far more vivid colours. It’s not as dull or monotonous as the lighting in the real world, again emphasising how uninteresting the ‘real world’ is to her. When Coraline…

So reports The Evening Mail in their daily coverage of the Marrs murders. Ashburton’s traumatic recollection demonstrates the power that the murders had on the individual; not only through inspiring “powerful sensations of horror and guilt” (Critchley and James 36), but specifically in their ability to resurrect past experiences of otherwise unfathomable violence. The murders have a similarly evocative effect on Thomas De Quincey. His works are steeped in violence and a preoccupation with…

Freedoms such as being able to vote, express them-selves, and gain a sense of respect from others. Not only was fashion a piece of material back in the 1920’s, but also a form of movement. With the turn of the decade and fashion, women were able to speak for them-selves whether their voices were seen or heard as negative or positive. The Flapper image became negative for the elders but the image allowed young women to be able to grow out of that stage into mature women. Wanting to move out due…

Noah Park Ever since the existence of a civilization, the fundamental question of how and why; to identify and explain the human’s nature and how man is ought to live, has been the key element in philosophical world.
