    Blood is a major part of the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare. It is explored throughout the play in various ways, especially through murder. "Blood will have blood" (Shakespeare, III, iv, 45) means that each time a murder is committed, more blood will be spilled to cover up the previous murder. In the very beginning of the play, Macbeth killed a traitor to the country, and Duncan said to “go pronounce his present death, and with his former title greet Macbeth” (Shakespeare, I, iii, 4).
