I can remember vividly the first match that got me into this fandom. It was Jeff Hardy vs. The Undertaker in a ladder match on Monday Night Raw. It was a classic underdog story. The Undertaker was nearly seven feet tall and was the Undisputed Champion. He looked like hell, and mostly because he was from hell. To me he represented all the kids in school who beat me up and bullied me. On the other side was Jeff Hardy, a weird looking guy. Someone who was different, someone who everyone thought he didn't have a chance to win. I saw myself as Jeff Hardy. The match was spectacular, the guy who didn't have a chance was hanging with the Undertaker. At one point, he almost won, but the Undertaker ultimately stood victorious. I was crushed, how could this have happened? Would this always be the fate of someone like me? Always to be one step closer to what I want but never being able to obtain it. Then then The Undertaker came back and raised the hand of Jeff Hardy to a thunderous ovation from the crowd. In the end, Jeff Hardy may not have won but he earned the respect of the toughest guy in the professional wrestling world. It put me at…
Shally and Katz express struggles common to men such as good vs. evil, power vs. submissiveness, and work vs. ownership. Gender, like race and class, is a part of professional wrestling. Professional wrestling leaves little surprise that boys to act act masculine. As Katz says, “we get a very traditional and very conservative version of masculinity represented as an ideal of physical strength, the ability to control and scare other people, to intimidate, and especially to not back away from…

people quality for the show. The WWE website announced it on their website. Ford speaks about the past how title changes happened on house shows in the past. Some of them were recognized and some of them not. Ford thinks it is a good idea for the fans. Two whole chapters are focused on the booking “Does it Draw?” and “What’s Good For the Business is Good For…” Matysik begins with the significant problem so many fantasy bookers will ignore in professional wrestling storylines: It is one thing…
In Marge Piercy’s narrative poem, “Barbie Doll”, the story of a young girl is told from the viewpoint of an outside speaker watching her grow up around the norms of society and ultimately ends her life because of it. Throughout each stanza, a new important piece of information is expressed to the readers to contribute to both the theme and tone of the poem. Piercy is able to cultivate the idea that inward beauty is not valued in today’s society, and that artificial perfection can only be…
Rock Bottom I always say whenever I am in trouble I think that I am in “rock bottom”. Like when I have a bad grade, have a bad day at work, or when I get upset at my parents, I want to relate myself to rock bottom. But, if I look at my position from a different view, I should be lucky I have the Tennessee Promise scholarship to keep me in school, I should be happy that I am employed, and I should be blessed enough to have parents to even become upset about. I realize those little hardships is…
Dwayne “ The Rock” Johnson Dwayne “ The Rock” Johnson is a famous action movie star and a professional wwe wrestler. After he performs on live tv shows and he acts on movies like Fast and Furious, Hercules, and Tooth Fairy. One way the Rock also known as Dwayne Johnson influences me, is that he shows others to keep your head up and there is always a point where someone wanted to give up but he always says don’t give up. I respect the “Rock” because he left the wwe in wrestlemania 29 after he…
As each year passes, more facets of popular culture become somewhat like wrestling: a stage-managed reality in which scripted storylines bleed spontaneously into actual events, with the fuzzy line between fact and fiction seeming to intensify, not diminish, the viewer’s obsession with the melodrama. The modern media landscape is scattered with reality shows that viewers know that are not real; that basically, is professional wrestling. In the same vein as soap operas, melodrama can be…
In the sequence "Undertaker makes his entrance- undertaker 27", the director uses the theme of a scary atmosphere, when the Undertaker was making his entrance Triple H was already standing in the ring and the ring announcer called out Undertaker's name. Undertaker walks to the ring. Undertaker steps in the ring and makes eyes contact with triple H, giving him an angry look, triple H also gives him the same look but with fear. This scène is used at the beginning of the film as it is the entrance…
The attraction of professional wrestling. Professional wrestling is half theater, half stee chair shots to the head. Professional wrestling may never be commonly understood. Each adult admirer of professional wrestling has encountered those people who turn their heads and ask, “You do know it’s fake, right?” “I don’t care. I love the pageantry, the athleticism, even the incredibly cheesy acting. I look at wrestling as theater at it 's most base, and guess what? So do most of the fans. We know…
