In my high school career, I have been terrible with grades in my freshman year. I slowly but surely started to pick them up, but I was not the smartest in school. I was a slow learner, didn’t really catch the material as fast as everybody else. That was a disadvantage for me because I was making up some classes while I had to handle my regular A-G classes. I can honestly say it was probably one of the most difficult times in high school. That was around the time where I wasn’t really interested…
The men and women that made up the Essence of Joy choir possessed great overall sound quality. Each voice complements the other and blended well together. There was a mix of vocal parts— tenor, bass, alto, and soprano— that provided a rich and diverse timbre and texture. In addition to a well blended sound, the choir also showcases strong dynamics. It was possible to hear the various dynamics, like crescendos and decrescendos. The choreography that the choir performed…
early age and his parent sent him to be an apprentice to Johann Matthias Franck, the schoolmaster and choirmaster in Hainburg, to train as a musician. He learned to play both harpsichord and violin and received basic training. Hadyn would soon sing soprano parts in the Hainburg church choir. His talent was noticed by a musical director of St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Georg von Reutter, in Vienna. Georg von Reutter invited Hadyn to be a chorister. Haydn moved to Vienna…
self-loathing; he uses Homer Simpsons severely eating disorder which leads to anything ranging from a heart attack to a spiritual journey. Finally, Katrina explains a few shows showing the satisfaction we can get out our food with the mobster drama The Sopranos who revelled in an endless consumption of ziti, cannoli, and capicola ham. Watching TV over the years has shown me a few ways of my own how television illustrates unhealthy eating habits with numerous amounts of fast food commercials, TV…
singing in the shower. Using different colored bottles of shampoo as my mic, I sing until my throat is raw and my voice is nearly gone. Dancing around, having the time of my life in a three walled room I won't be judged in. Attempting to sing high soprano notes and belting out low alto notes. Singing in the shower leaves me able to express myself, like I am preforming at my own personal concert. The only things in the shower besides me are shampoo bottles, so I never feel judged as I might…
When most people hear the words “opera singer,” their mind conjures up images of bloated women, plunked down in the middle of a stage, illuminated by a spotlight, dressed in exotic costumes, and screaming at the top of the lungs in even more exotic languages. But frankly that stereotype could not be more wrong; I know that for a fact. If those stereotypes were right, then I would not be writing this paper. I love opera. I have been addicted to it for over five years now, and the fire that…
Jordan Holley Trowbridge has made a big impact on my life. She is kind, loving, patient, generous, supportive, achiever, humorous, amazing friend, phenomenal braider, and outdoorsman. She always is willing to stick up for someone else, even if she has never met them, she never has put her own needs in front of those around her and will always go the extra mile for someone else. I met her a few years ago at a church service project at a local elementary school soccer day camp. Jordan and I were…

Can You Find It? There is a destructive disease affecting the entire world. The disease has always existed, but only recently influenced the entire world. This disease entices its victims and acts harmless like rainbows and butterflies. The innocent disease then infects its victims with hopelessness. This disease is happiness. The idea and concept of happiness dictates human fate. One would think happiness is the cute and cuddly word taught in western cultures. Humans have adapted to the world…
