The Snow Queen Recently, I had the chance to see The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Anderson at Park Square Theater. The play presented itself different from the time the viewer walked in. When walking in, viewers were greeted with a friendly staff, whose goal was to make each persons view easier and more enjoyable. At first glance, the stage looked different from what most would come to expect. The theater itself appeared clean and prepared for an audience expecting something similar to Frozen. When I was standing in line waiting for our tickets to be punched, there were numerous little girls dressed as Elsa. This made me think the audience was not quite prepared for this play. Prior to the play, I had done research on the story. The story appeared different from the Disney movie that children have grown to love. She sends an evil mirror down to earth to change Kay’s perspective of the world. When the mirror dropped down to earth, it shattered, thus landing in Kay’s heart. A few nights later, Kay sees the Snow Queen and she snatches him from Gerda. Gerda is left feeling devastated that the Snow Queen has snatched…

Thawing the Snow Queen; Feminism in Science Fiction Here’s the truth, women hate being society’s puppet; so Joan D. Vinge snipped her strings in the novel The Snow Queen. This author made Science Fiction into a tool. The genre allows controversial issues to be stripped and placed into a different setting; it probes the reader to reflect on his or her own beliefs--maybe even challenge those perceptions. Which is why Feminism could ripen under the pages of its wings. That ideology of equality…
