    Some people may argue that “The Secret Life of the American Teenager brings awareness to teen pregnancy, however my analysis proves otherwise. This leads to young girls wanting that same type of love and attention, thus leading to real life situations like teen pregnancies and high school dropouts. These young girls of color closely relate to characters who come from similar backgrounds, influencing them to act in similar ways. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), “Non-Hispanic black youth, Hispanic/Latino youth, American Indian/Alaska Native youth, and socioeconomically disadvantaged youth of any race or ethnicity experience the highest rates of teen pregnancy and childbirth.” Most of which were influenced by media or family upbringing.
