All players tried to recover the ball for themselves. Additionally, one 4-year old batter made contact with the ball and his immediate notion was to run after it, which he did. The conception to run to the base rather the ball just was not there! Eventually, the coach redirected the boy where he needed to go and off he went! His opponents were still very much engrossed in a game of tug-a-war that no one noticed he was stealing bases and headed home.
