time periods. Although plays, dramas and screenplays are not in the literary works category, they are frequently known to be comprised of these similar literary elements as well. This appears to be the case in Robert Frost’s famous poem, “Mending Wall” and Neil Simon’s well known drama, The Odd Couple. While these two writings are categorized in different groups, they share the comparable theme of limitations. It is a person’s civilized responsibility to, at all times, know their boundaries in life. Robert Frost was born on March 26, 1874, in San Francisco, California. He became interested in reading and writing poetry during his high school years. Most of his poems are notable for the informal, organized language that implies messages rather than openly stating them. Perhaps in his poem, “Mending Wall”, Frost is speaking of two different kinds of walls, both physical and emotional.…

The movie I decided to choose is “Couples Retreat” (Billingsley, 2009). The couple I choose from the movie is Jason and Cynthia. The reason I chose them is due to the fact that they are the couple that wanted to go to the couples retreat, Eden (Billingsley, 2009). When the couple first started talking to the other couples about the retreat in the beginning of the movie, they discussed the whole reason as to why they wanted to go to this retreat and why they needed the other couples to…

just like the early centuries where living standards of boarding schools were poor and physical punishments were common. Much can be said about the school but even more can be said about the headmaster and his wife. They are rich which is seen from the way they present themselves: “Shoes old but expensive—Russell and Bromley. (…) She’s not gone to any particular trouble—that’s just what she’d wear anyway.” (p. 2 ll. 54-56). It’s obvious that the headmaster’s wife dresses to standards and it’s…

    Cody Splunk Analysis

Out of all three of the main characters, my least favorite would have to be Cody Splunk. I personally loved the overall melancholy feel of the book despite what the cover would have one to believe prior to reading it. The stories behind both Laura Freedman and Janice Gibbs flow seemingly concurrently and are almost poetic in nature. There are many similarities found between Gibbs and Freedman that are not found in Splunk. He’s the odd man out basically. But, of course, him being the odd man out…

Hoof Print I have been around horses ever since I can remember because my mom loves horses. I took lessons every week to become a better rider with my horse, “Poe.” Carol, my new instructor (appositive), told me to try to not use stirrups when riding him. We started off walking around the ring without any stirrups, which was easy, so she told me to pick up a trot and move faster. I did that, but what happened was the stirrups ended up bumping Poe in the side, which made him think that I was…

When I woke up, the other side of the bed was cold. My fingers stretch out, seeking Lucy’s warmth, but finding only the absence of her presence.it was a typical day for me. Wake up, eat breakfast, feed Lucy and walk to school with two heavy books on my hands. I was considered the ‘nerdy and shy’ girl at school. I realized senior year in high school only meant learning to me while I was focused on graduating my peers thought about it as ‘the time of their lives’ where they had the chance to party…

Andrew Just last year, Dylan and I traveled to Haiti on a missions trip. As you may know, it's one of the poorest countries in the world. When we were beginning our descent on the airplane, I thought about how little roads and how poor the housing was. We drove through chaotic roads and rubble filled alleys, until we reached the orphanage. New Life Children’s Home is a safe haven for kids who lived in the mountains a couple miles north. These kids were neglected, sick, beat, starved, etc.…
