She was very worried and controlling when it came to going to a town with a crazy murderer on the loose. So the grandmother went along with everybody on their road trip to Florida. In the story the family had a car accident leaving them stranded, but when someone came to help it wasn’t nearly what they expected. The Misfit and his gang come upon the grandmother and her family as if he was coming to help them out. The reader notices the misfit was quite older than the boys in his gang; maybe as old as the grandmother. At this point, the grandmother believes he is someone she may know, that perhaps she "had known him all her life."
