Forever and ever the road seemed to stretch, as though it was designed with no end in mind — as though it was designed to go on forever. This would not have been all that bad had it not been for the fact that I was treading in territory somewhere deep in the heart of Mission, Texas, a city entirely unfamiliar to me. I was surrounded by an unknown frontier, and I knew not which way led home. To make matters a little worse, I had my younger brother, Diego, age 14, in the passenger seat beside me. Driving with me is not unfamiliar to him, since he 's been a frequent passenger of mine since I received my license. He is not the kind to worry, fret, whine, or complain, which I am thankful for. However, a small fault though it may be, I often find…

Essay A There is a straight road in my hometown that in one coincidental way or another has shaped my entire life. The road is known as Junction Highway, and every place that has ever been important to me I have gotten to by using this road. On Junction Highway I have driven home from school feeling exhausted from whatever practice that I experienced that day, but still smiling as I rolled the windows down on my 2005 baby blue beetle, and let the fragrant hill country breeze blow my hair in…

and hears the angry animal noise again. Then, she hears what sounds like a struggle, and in an instant, her mother falls to the floor, her face bloodied, as though it has been chewed on. Blood seeps toward Stephanie, under the bed. The creature strokes her face. It is a QALLUPILUK. It has webbed-fingers, and an amphibian like quality, a stiff, mask-like face that seems somewhat like a stereotypical alien, with fish-like gills, long hair, and an effeminate quality. The Qallupiluk leans down…

The chair makes me feel like Goldilocks when she stumbled into the bears ' house. I watch the cranes, it 's the only thing to do. I came here to be by myself, to organize my thoughts. It 's not long until my phone buzzes. Everybody wants an update, so I rehash the latest news. I 'm happy that people care for my family, but at times I feel so awkward when faced with their condolences. I watch the cranes for awhile longer, but I 'm lost in my thoughts. I don 't understand how the future changed so…

    Long Road Narrative

Preface I chose to write the Long Road as it is a story I can relate to. As when I was younger as we were travelling to Northern Territory for a family holiday and we ran out of diesel. I think this could help others and make them aware of bringing extra fuel or petrol when going into an uncivilised area. I thought this would be a good topic to right on as it is a real Australian stereotype to be in the outback and run out of fuel. I would like to thank my Dad for this holiday wouldn’t have been…

The lyrics of the Beatles’ ‘’Long and Winding Road’’ is the perfect metaphor for the chapter that ends the Joy Luck Club. This can be seen on two levels. The Joy Luck Club book begins with Suyuan Woo and, in a way, it ends with Suyuan Woo albeit in the person of the daughter Jing-Mei. The road followed by the members of the Joy Luck Club has taken them from China to America and now in the person of Jing-Mei the road has led them back again. On another level, the ‘’Long and Winding Road’’…

Tax issues like these hinder natives from being able to succeed and allow for outsiders to take away advantage. These mistakes are inexcusable and unless they’re fixed economic growth in Mongolia will come to a halt. Another country that has been having trouble keeping up with growth of the global economy is Africa. Simon Akam discusses his experience in Sierra Leone in his article “The Long and Winding Road”. According to Akam, “It is nearly impossible to conduct business transactions in an…

“A Long Road To Somewhere” Out of the ashes a princess rises, since 1999 she has been growing, glowing, and becoming a queen. I have fought my hardest in the past eighteen years to get where I am today. I am not the same person I was in the past and I am not yet who I will be in the future. I have come a long way from the silly little girl with the gap to the very tomboyish pre-teen, to “that one girl with half her head shaved” in middle school, to the depressed high school kid trying to save…
