    My Career College Essay

enamored by the wonders of the genre. The way the words jumped off the beat, was unlike anything I had ever heard. I, immediately, became obsessed. Now a couple months into 8th grade, I was regularly listening to the likes of Jay Z, Eminem, Kanye West, and other big names of the time. But, I wasn 't just listening to the songs, I was studying them. References of past greats in hip hop as well as artists from samples used in their songs, led me to other music. Soon, my pallet consisted of everything from The Jackson 5 to Dr. Dre and back to Jimi Hendrix. Week after week, I 'd bring 'new ' songs to my friends and play them. But, it was as if they weren 't listening to the same thing I was. When 'Hello It 's Me ' by the Isley Brothers started to play they heard a heavy, mundane song that dragged on for days. But, what I heard were the steady, melodic sounds of a guitar, drums, and soulful voices; all makings of a potentially catchy hip hop beat. After multiple times attempting to sway my friend’s musical tastes, I figured a different approach was needed. "Why not put these songs into a format my friends could appreciate", I asked myself. So, that’s what I did – it was the beginning of my producing career. Mid-way through 8th grade, I was determined to make music. Luckily for me, Christmas had come at an opportune time. My wish list looked something like this: producing software, a keyboard, and as many iTunes gift cards I could get. Santa delivered.…

Inspiration given by the Isley Brothers to The Beatles is evident in the similarities between the two versions as well as their differences based on the musical elements and time periods of the two works.…

Fairy tales’ economic length and straightforward lessons provide gender-related developmental paradigms with not only the pervasive patriarchal view as noted by Sandra Gilbert and Susan Gubar, but also the limited yet empowering vision of females. The female protagonist in All-Kinds-of-Fur in Brothers Grimm 's collection displays what at first appears to be a passive, objectified female personality, which a prominent narratologist Peter Brooks points out in his book Reading for the Plot;…

The Color Red: The Key to Woman’s Sexual Maturity The color red has always had some significant meaning, whether it is in real life, myths, legends, or even fairy tales. Two fairy tales which illustrate the symbolic meaning of the color red are two tales about Snow White; Brothers Grimm’s “Snow White” and Lasiar Gheug, “The King of Ireland’s Daughter.” In these fairy tales red resembles the opportunity for women to be rescued by a prince and possibly reach sexual maturity, but the shedding of…

In the original story, the protagonist makes the choice to exchange her voice for legs. She then proceeds to have her tongue removed out of her mouth –while brutal and graphic, this scene was very important as it was a) realistic to how someone could miraculously lose their voice, and b) showed the reader the mermaid’s desperation and willingness to do anything to become human. Disney offered none of that depth in their scene, their adaption and had the sea witch simply sing a song and work some…
