Much of my troubles with Joanne actually begins with Danette. Danette would often come to my office to complain about Joanne. This happened maybe 4 or 5 times. It was always the same thing, Joanne was complaining that she wasn't getting any support staff help, and was critical of Katrina and Alyssa. Danette would basically say that Joanne wouldn't need any support staff help if she wasn't so slow. Eventually it got so bad that on 3/6/15 I approached Burgess for help and explained what was going on and why I thought it was happening. John said he would look into it. When I returned from vacation on 3/20 I asked John where we stood on it. He said he didn't want to go into it at this time and felt that he was holding our hands. He said we should have the skills to resolve this and he expected Danette and I to work it out on our own. After 5:00pm on 3/20 I approached Danette to discuss the Joanne problem. Calmly sitting in her office I said "I'm not really sure where to start, so I'm just going to say it". Danette and I had been good friends up to this point and with John's encouragement I thought we could work it out. I told Danette that it felt to me like she was trying to get rid of Joanne and I reminded her of the conversation where she said that Joanne was too slow and would be better off back at the front desk. I was unprepared for her reaction. She said she never said that, and that she doesn't know me any more. She said I was a liar and "fucking crazy"…

For a long time, the World of Middle-Earth, created by J. R. R. Tolkien, was described as a true work of art. Tolkien is one of the first authors to ever create an entire fantasy just for the sake of his books. That shows his dedication to his passion of writing. And it paid off in the end. Tolkien is considered by many as one of the best, if not the best, authors of all time. He created new names, new places, and much more. Tolkien was very dedicated to his passion. He spent so much item ad…

evident in his trilogy, The Lord of the Rings as well as The Hobbit. Tolkien had a deep understanding of multiple Indo-European languages such as Old English, Old Norse, Finnish, Old High Herman, and several others, demonstrating a vast philological foundation to work from when it came to creating his own languages and history however he noted that language should not be derived purely for communicative factors, but the aesthetics of language should also be contemplated such as the pleasure of…

It requires the creator to build a world from the ground up and make it believable. The Lord of the Rings is a shining example of a fantasy world done right, with Tolkien’s fantastic setting and characters. However, what is most intriguing about the world that Tolkien has created is not the many fantastic races he created. What is fascinating is how he wrote the race that the reader is most familiar with, humanity. This essay will tackle the ways in which Tolkien’s humans stood out from their…

The great races get depicted as being incongruity with nature while the wickedness races get delineated as being conflicting with it—henceforth the hawks ' choice to help the mythical people against the trolls. A few faultfinders have proposed that the distinctive races in The Hobbit were intended to speak to diverse European nationalities, yet Tolkien 's dislike for purposeful anecdote makes this appear to be profoundly improbable. Family ancestry is an alternate imperative variable that shapes…

One that intrigues me most is the elf. They reside in the forests of Middle-Earth. Usually, elves are seen as noble and urbane beings, which can make them be arrogant at times. Arts, especially music, are one creative aspect they flourish in. With that, they also make for stellar poets. Archery is a strong suit of nearly every elf as well. They are the most scholarly race except for wizards, but elves are considerably more plentiful. I believe that the elves are a unique and worthy addition to…

just like these men were. Many of the characters were based off of the soldiers that Tolkien spent so much time with in the trenches. World War I influenced other aspects of Middle-earth, not only the characters. “This war [in The Lord of the Rings] has the very quality of the war my generation knew” (Lewis 13). Tolkien drew from his experiences in WWI to create battle scenes. The battles in The Lord of the Rings reflect the terror and desperation the soldiers felt. Tolkien didn’t only want to…
