    In the haunted genera there are common characteristics that every book or film upholds which qualify them as haunted. These consist of specific locational characteristics, common plots, character archetypes, and a common trope. Although, Frailty doesn’t directly have these, in many ways they are fulfilled through other means. Throughout, the movie we see flashbacks to three specific locations that parallel with those that are commonly in haunted movies. The first of which is the bedroom. Although, there were no hauntings that occurred in Adam and Fenton’s room we associate it with a sense of horror, since it is the first location that their father professes his vision to them. From then on we constantly see Adam and Fenton disturbed from their sleep to witness their father destroy demons. Another major location that is often present in haunting films is a basement. While, there is no basement in the house, the hole that Fenton is forced to dig, which is then transformed into a cellar fulfills the role of a basement. The cellar serves as the location where they slay the demons which is portrayed in a monstrous way leaving an association between a hunted basement and the cellar. The third common scheme is a cemetery; a cemetery typically connects the problems they are experiencing to someone or something of…
