The title of the story is So I Ain’t No Good Girl. The girl (the main character) is at a bus stop while saying mean things about other girls because they are too plain and pitiful. Her boyfriend, Raheem, comes and wants him back after a redhead girl tries to steal him. He keeps fighting the main character and looking at other girls. So they get on the bus except for Raheem and the girl he’s been hitting on. On the bus, the girl decides to leave that alone and just go to school. In my opinion, the girl’s first weakness is she can be physically hurt. The evidence in the story shows that Raheem slaps her. Her second weakness is her temper. Evidence shows that when she sees Raheem with another girl she gets mad. The third weakness is…

So I aint no good girl, is based on a girl, who doesn’t want to be a goody-goody, she wants to be the attention grabber; she believes she won’t achieve that if she is a goody-goody, yet there are some flaws to the character, and the scene, the story adds up, most of the time. I for one, think that the author didn’t do a fantastic job trying to bring the character to life, I don’t think most of the problems she faces, would be something another girl would face, also some of the events that took…

Hiding from the Truth In the short story “I ain’t no good girl” by: Sharon Flake, the narrator is afraid to take action for several events in the story. I believe that this is so because she doesn’t have confidence in herself; because she is too afraid. The story starts off with the Narrator and several other girls waiting for a bus stop in a corner of the street. A while later, the Narrator’s boyfriend Raheem greets the Narrator. On the bus to school, the narrator tries to take a last look at…

I believe that the girl in the story has issues. Remember that clique of girls, in grade school, that would walk down the halls surrounded by a haze of perfume and a collective look of disgust? They walk by you and you know they’re judging you. I can guarantee that anyone reading this has had an encounter similar to that. Have you ever seen the movie Mean Girls? If not, let me fill you in. In the movie, a girl named Cady, who lived in Africa, moves back to America to experience high school. She meets Regina George who runs The Plastics, the…

Was I raped? Of course not. You voluntarily drove to that college party as a 17 year old. Yeah, I guess. But I was severely depressed. Okay, that’s true, but you know very well that you were crushing on him. That gave him no right to get me drunk and do all of those things to me. Well, then why the hell would you go to a party at a college if you weren’t going to drink? That’s stupid. Obviously I drank and was initially okay with it, but it was my first time. I was tipsy after the two bottles of…

In the story “So I Ain’t No Good Girl,” written by Sharon Flake, an almost realistic setting and I felt that the author is trying to make a setting more realistic for the story, and for the reader, to understand. The story is about a girl that doesn’t care what people think about her. In the morning she almost got into a fight with one of the girls in the bus stop, but, Raheem stops her by telling her “To go to school without him.” The main character/narrative got on the bus, look outside and…

Women share many things and common bonds through out life, and even though they are all different, they have understandings with each other. Several girls have links between them because they feel like their mothers do not understand the way they think or the way they wish to dress. Some females of the human species have the bond of wanting to be admired or needing attention, and it does not matter if they have a PhD or if they are fifteen years old, they still want to be admired or they seek…

The Girl on the Train recounts the tale of Rachel Watson’s life after her divorce, and her interaction with the current wife of her former spouse. Genre and Gender in The Good Time Girls The Good Time Girls creates a well-written female revenge fantasy in an unexpected genre: the Western. The film is part of Refinery 29's Shatterbox Anthology, created to increase female representation in entertainment, both behind and in front of the camera. The Good Time Girls opens with Clementine dressed in men's clothing, holding a shotgun at an off-screen target while she recounts her born-in-a-whorehouse origins; she takes another shot as a…
