10 minutes to 11am when I reached I-81. 77 follows 81 west for a few miles then turns north into West Virginia. Surprised that I-81 was in good shape, considering the weather. Proceeding cautiously, due to the obvious black ice on the roadway. I turned north following I-77 further into West Virginia. I needed gas now, before going any further. I took the Princeton West Virginia exit. At the bottom of the exit was a semblance of a highway. Didn’t look like anybody had turned left from that point. I was not going to take a chance, there might be a median there. I turned right. I could see faint headlights going in the opposite direction. Startled by the sound of a loud air horn. I looked, seeing what looked like an airplane landing behind me. Moving to the right as far as I could, not slowing down. I felt the rumble of whatever was back there. I braced for impact. Let me tell you something. If you ever find yourself in West Virginia, fogged in, with almost zero visibility and snowing. Please, have enough sense to bring a change of underwear. I’m glad I did! I shit my pants,…

I wake up with the sun, the grass and leaves wet with dew, the soft splash of the water upon the shore. Hugging the mountains is the mist protecting them from the eyes of us humans. My back aches as I get out of bed, but prayer comes first and I push myself to get up. Throwing my habit over my head I begin my day. The grotto is silent, the flowers sway, I pray to the Lord and ask for forgiveness, my sins too much to bear. I pray with all my heart and soul and let God know he is thanked. I…

On a more preferable note, Earth has had moderate atmosphere primarily, hence warm enough for abundant liquid water and large enough gravity to shun losing it. However, the Faint–Young Sun Paradox [02] indicates that our sun has been 25-30% dimmer during the stellar evolution period than its luminosity or intensity today. This refutes Earth having a moderate atmosphere earlier as a dimmer sun would have frozen its surface. But the evidence show that Earth has not been frozen since 4 billion…

The ad I choose for my discussion is a tv commercial which aired during the 2010 Super Bowl. The reason I picked this commercial is because of it's great sense of humor and it's ability to utilize several concepts Julia B. Corbett discusses in her article, "A Faint Green Sell: Advertising and the Natural World" (235). In the opening scene we see a young white male purchasing groceries and is asked whether he would like paper or plastic. After a sudden pause, he decides to go with plastic, when…

In the beginning of this article from Sciencenews it is talking about the two cosmic magnifying glasses that are letting astronomers see a peek of a few faint galaxies that could have occurred as far back as 600 million years before the Big Bang. These tiny galaxies could have possibly played a large part in cosmic reionization. Rachel Livermore an astronomer at the University of Texas at Austin says “That when they detected galaxies as faint they did it supports the idea that a lot of little…

the first couple cantos Dante faints. Now one could argue that fainting doesn’t make some have less courage, however, Dante faints after seeing or experiencing something scary. While in the first circle of hell after entering the gates of hell Dante faints because he sees “[a] whirl wind burst out of the tear drenched earth, a wind that crackled with a bloodred light” (Canto III; 133). If Dante was more courageous at this point in his journey Dante wouldn’t have fainted. The second time Dante…

Why is swooning a common action taken by the heroine in romance novels? Surprisingly, fainting is a rather common event in eighteenth century literature. Some scholars say fainting was a contagious craze in order for women to express their sensibility, but others say that there were real physical causes behind these fainting fits. Sometimes it is questioned whether or not feminine characters in romance novels faint for dramatic effect, or whether there is something seriously wrong with their…

Even the youth will faint and get weary. And the young men will utterly fall! Sometimes you are just exhausted by life’s battles! You are weak ! You are tired! You are faint! You are depleted! And you feel I can’t go on! Is there anybody here that feels that way! I’m weak ! I’m woven! I’m tired! I’m exhausted! Even though you are an eagle, you get tired, broken, and weary. But in Verses 29–30 God gives two dynamic spiritual forces. In Verse 29 He gives power to the faint. The word power is…

It is satirical that a new, young teacher such as Miss Caroline believes that she should be the only educational influence in these children’s lives, so much so that she tells one of her students not to be taught at home. When Scout first shows the signs of the possibility of being semi-literate a “faint line [appears] between her eyebrows…” after more testing it was made known that Scout was literate and the teacher looked at her with “…more than faint distaste.” Scout, the daughter of a…
