    Carlos Fuentes ‘s story “Chac Mool” is a supernatural story where the importance of standing up for yourself, which is a mayor theme in the story. From the first sentence of the short story we are introduced to our main character, Filliberto. We immediately learn that he has mysteriously died by drowning in Acapulco. His friend is taking his coffin back to Mexico City in a bus, to the house where Filiberto used to live.
