analysis of this book, I will give some general information about the author and the receptions of her stories by literary critics, talk about the book in question and explain what it is inside this book, respond and summarize a critical article, explain whether I agree or disagree with the critic, and why one issue raised in this story are really important. First of all, in my literary analysis, I will give some general information about the author and the receptions of her stories by literary critics. Gilchrist was born in the small town of Vicksburg, Mississippi in the year 1935. She has published many types of literature in her lifetime that includes five novels, two books of poetry, and her vast collections of short stories and journal entries. She has also won many awards for her literary work with poetry and fiction that includes the American Book Award for the book I am analysing, “Victory over Japan”. She lastly teaches the english majors(graduate and undergraduate) at the University of Arkansas Fayetteville. Gilchrist has a moderately positive reputation for her literature with some good comments and some bad comments. For example, the surprise endings in her stories are approved by critic Dean Flowers, but critic Beverly Lowry condemns the idea of having surprising endings because it changes the tone of the story.
