the accident. As she watched her husband walk in alive, she fell over and died instantly. Assumably, Mrs. Mallard was in shock and died as a result of a heart attack. In The Story of An Hour, Mrs. Mallard did not find freedom for herself no matter the circumstances. Just when she thought she had gained freedom, her excitement over her husband’s supposed death became a nightmare which eventually led to her death. Mrs. Mallard bedroom was described as a place of comfort; where she goes into, sits in her comfortable chair and stares out the window to think and daydream. The Story of An Hour by Chopin, states “There stood, facing the open window, a comfortable, roomy armchair.
